The Chebe Bread Company was kind enough to send a whole bunch of products to review. I’ll try to report on at least one per week for the next few weeks. The first item we tried was what they call their ‘Cheese Bread’ recipe. (Thanks Chebe!)
First of all they were incredibly easy to make, thats always a bonus for me since it seems like all 24 hours of they day are already booked on my schedule. Second, the taste was great! I would recommend using shredded cheddar cheese vs permesan cheese. My kids couldn’t get enough and it was perfect with chili!Â

I have made the original with & without cheese(shredded cheddar, with & without milk. The only one I will NOT make again is the plain -no milk, no cheese. It seems that it more pallatible (for me ) with some dairy. The pizza flavored mix is VERY spiced, I’d recommend using a plain or just garlic added tomato sauce…but that’s just my taste. I made oldfashioned cinnamon rolls, too, using the plain mix, adding my own cinnamon. I used to bake a lot, before Sprue attacked and ruined(I thought then) my baking hobby. They were awesome! Net project—experiment with yeast.
Aside… I bought cases, much cheaper per mix, from Amazon…even out to $1. 35 per bag.
I bake and EAT again, thanks to Chebe!
This bread mix made as suggested on the package makes an excellent thin crust pizza dough. Rolled thin on parchment paper it can then be easily lifted onto a square baking pan. I dusted it and my roller with tapioca flower to keep it from sticking. Brush a little olive oil on the dough and pre-bake it until it just starts to turn golden. Remove, allow to cool a little then add your sauce and toppings. A better gluten free pizza dough will be hard to find.
Need to share with others. Recently Chebe Bread made a change to their mix, they changed where they purchase the starch. It is supposed to be exactly the same, but for me it isn’t. I am allergic to: glutens and sulfites (preservatives) and they trigger my asthma. So I was able to tell immeidately after eating the new mix. I had been eating the bread for over a year and I am very disappointed and upset with the change. I felt that people with celiac/digestive issues should know about the change.
