Weighing in a plump 290 calories, and being packaged in a box that looks like it was meant for some kind of medical ointment, is a new bar from Trader Joe’s. This little gem is called the Lumpy Bumpy bar, and for good reason, the name may not be creative but it’s honest. After you get over the weird packaging and the looks from people wondering what the heck you are eating, I have to say that it’s not all that bad. Actually, it taste pretty much like a Snickers bar…a big, fat, chubby, Snickers bar. It was quite a challenge to actually finish this monster in one sitting but I was committed and pulled it off. On a serious note, you have to give props to Trader Joe’s for recognizing the gluten-free community and churning out new, albeit bizarre, products on a regular basis. I’d recommend you give this one a shot, but be sure you are really hungry!

I love this candy bar. I didn’t buy it because it is gluten free; that isn’t a problem for me. I bought it because it sounded interesting. But now that I am addicted I have a hard time getting them because there isn’t a Trader Joe’s where I live. The closest is 2 hours away. Whenever we make trek I do get 2 or 3 but they don’t last too long. Does anyone know of another company that makes a similar candy bar or who makes this for TJs? I’ve checked Whole Foods and World Market but couldn’t find anything like it.
